TWENTY YEARS AGO ADMIRALTY SHIPYARDS DELIVERED TANKER “TROITSKY BRIDGE” TO THE CUSTOMER

Twenty years ago, the Admiralty Shipyards delivered to the customer tanker “Troitsky Most”, the lead ship in series “Most-T” of project 05-55.

The tanker "Troitsky Most" was laid down in January 2002 and launched in February 2003. Its construction marked the beginning of cooperation between the Admiralty Shipyards and PJSC “Sovkomflot”. The godmother of the vessel was the Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Valentina Matvienko, who at that time served as governor of Saint-Petersburg.

In total, eight tankers with a deadweight of 47,400 tons each were built in series “Most-T” until 2008. All of them, in accordance with the customer’s wishes, bear the names of the bridges, which names began with letter “T”. The ships were intended to transport up to four types of different cargoes simultaneously, including crude oil, petroleum products, gas condensate, vegetable oil and animal fats.

The project incorporated all the most innovative and relevant developments of its time, such as modern equipment and three-dimensional design. The Admiralty Shipyards have mastered a fundamentally new hull construction scheme and have completely switched to automatic and semi-automatic welding. To introduce pre-painting, a special painting booth was developed for large sections from 100 to 150 tons.

“This series has become the most successful for our enterprise,” notes General Director of JSC "Admiralty Shipyards" Andrei Veselov, who at that time worked as the chief builder of surface vessels. “We were able to raise the quality of construction of the orders to a new level and maintain the global standard.

At present time, tanker “Troitsky Most” is successfully performing all the tasks assigned to it.
