JSC “ADMIRALTY SHIPYARDS” TOOK PART IN ALL-RUSSIA MINUTE'S SILENCE

JSC “Admiralty Shipyards” participated in conventional all-Russia event "Minute's Silence", coincided with the Day of remembrance and mourning.

On 12:15 Moscow time the working process on JSC “Admiralty Shipyards” largest company sites was suspended as a token of memory of the employees, died during the years of Great Patriotic War.

The city oldest shipbuilding enterprise made a significant contribution in common struggle against fascism. More than 600 shipyard employees were a part of detached machinegun-and-artillery battalion 264, also DMAB 256 was formed inter alia from admiralty volunteers. During the war years 8 thousand employees of Admiralty Shipyards went to the war, 5 thousand of them died at the battlefields; 3 thousand died from hunger in blockaded Leningrad. The shipyard built and submitted to the fleet 7 submarines, 20 armoured gunboats, 66 anti-submarine destroyers, 118 self-propelled flat-bottom boats, and repaired 300 ships and submarines; Also was produced thousands of mortar-launchers, mines, artillery shells and other combat equipment.

In the year of city oldest shipbuilding facility 310th anniversary the Piskarevsky cemetery witnessed opening of Memorial slab, dedicated to the shipyard employees died protecting the blockaded Leningrad and at the frontlines of the Great Patriotic War.
