A DIESEL-ELECTRIC SUBMARINE OF JSC "ADMIRALTY SHIPYARDS" WAS PICTURED ON A POSTAGE STAMP

A diesel-electric submarine of project 677, being built by JSC "Admiralty Shipyards", was depicted on a postage stamp that went into circulation.

A special cancellation ceremony took place at the Central Naval Museum named after Emperor Peter the Great. The first to put the stamp on postage stamps were Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy Vice Admiral Igor Mukhametshin, Chief Engineer of JSC "Admiralty Shipyards" Ruslan Sheremetyev, First Deputy General Director - Chief Engineer of the Central Design Bureau "MT Rubin" Valentin Frolov, Deputy Director of North Macro-Region -West Russian Post Ksenia Efimova and other guests.

On behalf of the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, Admiral Nikolay Evmenov, Igor Mukhametshin congratulated the audience. He called the submarines depicted on the stamps “the top stone of Russian submarine shipbuilding.”

“These are the golden minds of our designers, the golden hands of shipbuilders, thanks to which the wonderful ships today ensure the military security of our state throughout the oceans,” noted the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy.

On behalf of the entire team of the Admiralty Shipyards, the chief engineer of the enterprise, Ruslan Sheremetyev, expressed gratitude for the release of the unique postage stamp: “More recently, the Admiralty Shipyards have celebrated 319 years since its foundation. During this time, the shipyard has built more than 300 submarines. We are proud that our plant was commissioned to construct the submarines of project 677. One of the submarines of this project is currently undergoing the state tests; the other is preparing to commence the sea trials. Therefore, the release of such postmark is a special pleasure for all of us.” The submarines of project 677 belong to fourth generation of conventional submarines and are today recognized as the most up-to-date and promising domestic conventional submarines, both in terms of combat effectiveness and other tactical and technical characteristics. JSC "Admiralty Shipyards" is the only shipyards that builds ships of this class.

The circulation of philatelic products with image of diesel-electric submarine of project 677 is 50,000 copies. In addition to the issue of postage stamps were produced first day envelopes and a special postmark. The stamps canceled on the day of issue are of particular value to philatelists.
