JSC “ADMIRALTY SHIPYARDS” STARTED MOORING TRIALS OF ICE-RESISTANT SELF-PROPELLED PLATFORM

JSC “Admiralty Shipyards” (part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation) started mooring trials of ice-resistant self-propelled platform “North pole”.

The mooring trials started from ashore power supply. Currently closing of mooring certificates proceeds on a firm schedule. As of today has been closed the certificate for emergency diesel-generator. In the coming days is planned presentation to the representatives of the shipowner and Russian Maritime Register of Shipping staring air systems and operation of cargo handling equipment: main girders, lanyards, winches, which lift and move the platforms and large-sized equipment in the engine rooms.

At present, the representatives of main production department are working onboard the vessel. They perform installation, electrical installation, hull works and prepare the platform’s rooms for the structure delivery.

The Contract between JSC “Admiralty Shipyards” and Rosgidromet for construction of the ice-resistant self-propelled platform was signed in April of 2018. The vessel was laid down on 10 of April, 2019. The construction is carried out in framework of implementation of the state program for social and economic development of arctic region of the Russian Federation.

The ice-resistant self-propelled platform “North Pole” includes the functionality of the scientific and research center and projected for all-season expeditions in high latitudes of the Arctic Ocean. The vessel is designed for conduction of geological, acoustic, geophysical and oceanographic investigations; the vessel is capable of passing through ice without an ice-breaker and also is capable to take onboard heavy helicopters of type МI-8, АМТ (МI-17). The ice-resistant self-propelled platform provides comfortable and save working and living conditions for crew and scientific staff onboard the polar station at a temperature up to -50 and 85%.humidity.
