JSC “ADMIRALTY SHIPYARDS” LAID DOWN KEELS FOR TWO SUBMARINES “LADA” OF PROJECT 677

On the Russia Day JSC “Admiralty Shipyards” carried the ceremony of keel laying for two submarines “Lada” of project 677. The event has taken place within the Single Day for ship laying with participation of RF Navy Commander-In-Chief Nikolay Evmenov.

The submarines “Vologda” and “Yaroslavl” became the forth and the fifth ship in the series of project 677, being constructed at JSC “Admiralty Shipyards” for RF Navy.

RF Navy Commander-In-Chief Nikolay Evmenov described the today's event as a next stage in development of the Navy of our country.

– We have reached the stage of scheduled serial construction of the submarines - specified the Navy Commander-In-Chief. – Today we can literally state that Russian fleet possess a powerful scientific and design-and-construction potential, centuries-long experience of construction and operation of ships with highly qualified crews. The global military and political situation calls for Russian powerful and precisely balanced Navy fleet.

Nikolay Evmenov specifically stated that Commander-In-Chief of Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin put the task for keeping the share of military ships no lower than 70%: "Laying down a keel is just another step towards implementation of the task set forth by the President. Today the RF Navy is capable to guarantee protection of the Russian state and its interests".

In conclusion Nikolay Evmenov thanked the shipbuilders for their conscientious work and professionalism.

The chief engineer of JSC “Admiralty Shipyards” Andrey Veselov specified the significance of the fact that on the Russia Day the country oldest ship construction facility - Admiralty Shipyards - is a focal point of ship laying for RF Navy Fleet.

– For more than 300 years the ships that left the enterprise slipways are performing the combat service honourably and with dignity in all regions of the global ocean, – stated Andrey Veselov.

JSC “Admiralty Shipyards” keeps constructing of the submarines ‘Lada” of the series of project 677 in accordance with updated design based on the trial operation of the pilot submarine “Saint-Petersburg”, which is currently afloat in Baltic fleet. The shipboard automation control system, propulsion system and navigation system were modernized for this project.

In 2018 JSC “Admiralty Shipyards” set afloat “Kronstadt”, the second submarine in the series, which is scheduled to be submitted to RF North fleet by the end of 2022. In 2015 the shipyard has laid down keel for the third vessel of the series – “Velikie Luki”, it is now undergoing the outfitting works after joining of the pressure hull.

The enterprise started metal cutting for the fourth and the fifth submarines of project 677 in February of 2022. The state contract for their construction is executed between JSC “Admiralty Shipyards” and RF Ministry of Defence was signed in of 2019 in the course of forum “Army-2019”. The submarines of project 677 belong to the fourth generation of conventional submarines and at the present time are considered the most advanced and perspective national conventional submarines considering both combat efficiency and other performance characteristics. JSC “Admiralty Shipyards” is the only facility for construction of the submarines of stated class.
